PMC SMART Solutions Steps Out to Support SCUFFY

Walk-A-Thon Raised Funds to Support Local Programs for Shelby County Residents

On Saturday May 15th, PMC SMART Solutions LLC (Cincinnati, OH), a family-owned company specializing in engineering and contract manufacturing, gathered employees and their families from its Shelbyville, IN, manufacturing plant to walk and raise funds for SCUFFY, the Shelby County United Fund (For You). The event raised more than $2,800, helping the SCUFFY organization exceed its fundraising goal for the 67th consecutive year.

“SCUFFY touches most people in Shelbyville in some way, being the major supporter of organizations like the Boys and Girls Clubs, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels, the Cancer Association, Turning Point, Senior Services and more,” Lisa Jennings, president and CEO of PMC SMART Solutions, says. PMC employees have always liked to get involved and support their community, she adds. “Some have been contributing individually to SCUFFY, but this year seemed like a great time for the company to hold its first annual SCUFFY Walk.”

The PMC-sponsored family event was held at Kennedy Park in Shelbyville, which was an ideal location with a scenic trail that winds around the west side of town. Family and friends were able to utilize the park for their pets as well as the shelter house for snacks and refreshments. In addition to the walk, there were also some fun added events in effort to raise a little extra money. Raffle tickets were available for door prizes and case donations were taken for a chance to put a pie in the face of Vern Nightenhelser, VP of Automotive and Ryan Poplicean, Director of Medical Operations. Mark Delaney (EVP) also wore one of the SCUFFY heart costumes while riding his Penny Farthing high-wheel bike (circa 1880s).

SCUFFY Director, David Fisher was also in attendance and was thankful for the PMC team’s generosity. “You have a great management team and associates at PMC. It isn’t very often that you find people willing to step out of their normal comfort zone like Vern, Mark and Ryan did to support the cause,” he stated. Jennings adds, “The event was a success. Everyone had a great time, and we will definitely do it again.”
